Having a time log starter on the project page doesn't seem right since you wouldn't know which task you are referring to.

What if I wanted a Time Log for a project in general, I may want to track time on small items that are too tedious to create actions for. The notes system is adequate in detailing my actual actions. The time log would then be associated to the project in general.

I don't want an "answering email" action in every one of my projects. But I would like to collectively monitor how much time I am spending on the "small" items like answering emails.

My suggestion would probably be, have a task item called "Support", and when clocking in simply write in "answering emails". We could always suggest a feature to have defined user patterns where you could choose from a list rather than typing it everytime.

Good Idea... and this is basically what I do (although I don't name it "Support" -- which I am going to start doing). But I am still stuck with this general Milestone that spans the entire project that I really has no unique completion rate, start date, end date.

I work on almost every project in the system, so I was really looking to have a quick way to track my time from the Project List, avoiding the action list if possible.

-- This is probably too unique of a situation, but I guess this is what this forum is for.

dwarren, I work on all our projects also, I would say upgrade to the latest version where when clicking on a project you can set the page to load to the task list. Then simply hit up the clocking button there. 1 click rather than 2,3 clicks.

What if there was a time log icon on all project lists, but the Time log start dialog had an action selection feature.

That's another possibility, which could probably be useful also.
